An adaptation of Obsidian called Obsidian Peanut Butter Stout was created in response to the recent surge in popularity of peanut butter whisky.
Brewed by Deschutes with real peanut butter and milk sugar to give it the much loved creamy Jiff flavour. To add complexity, power, vanilla tannins, and spice, they also mixed in a whisky barrel-aged stout in addition to the Dessert stout component. What better delivery method than a traditional American Stout for peanut butter and whisky, which are now essentially quintessential Americana staples. The final brew has much more punch than the original Obsidian; it clocks in at over 9% ABV and 40 IBUs.
