We know Alvinne make some weird and wonderful beers, and this was one that was a surprise.
An 11% barley wine with roasted mustard seeds, the beer was then aged 6 months in Calvados (apple cider distilled into Brandy) barrels.
It is a rich malty beer, with a sweetness from the barrel aging. The mustard seeds also add something slightly spicy to the flavour, though I’d be hard pressed to name them without knowing they were in there!
And as always the Morpheus yeast adds a lot of character and a bit of eccentricity to the beer.
